The Four Corners,USA is a location at the intersection of four states, UT, CO, AZ, and NM
Chaco, Aztec, and Salmon in New mexico. Mesa Verde, Hovenweep, and Chimney rock in Colorado each have elements of knowledge of astronomy by the Anasazi people (Pre-Puebloan of 800 to 1300 A.D.)
Could there be other solstice and Equinox markers (Spirals or alignments for example) that are yet to be documented. Are there other petroglyphs like the Fajada Butte images at Chaco with sun light play?
Is there an easier way to locate these petroglyphs? In the field?
Once located, is there an easier and cheaper way to record the sunlight and shadows that would show intent by the creator of the Rock Art to mark the cycles of the stars and moon and sun and seasons.
Could an ancient civilization (Anasazi) have observed a much older civilization (Archaic) writings and understood the significance of the information? Could some symbol be re-used, common, or copied by much different civilizations.
current projects include analyzing the recently discovered solstice and equinox markers in the southwest by Anazasi (pre-Pueblo) peoples from a thousand years ago. Checkout other Four Corners activities at: fccbbs.com. A presentation on June 27 revealed a lot of these new discoveries and a special solstice discovery at the Salmon Ruins, Bloomfield, NM.
